Welcome to Savoring Our Lives! In this week’s episode:
We celebrated Ruth’s birthday We thought about going to Ishnala – a seasonal supper club located about two hours away. Instead, we went to our old standby, Mr. B’s Steakhouse. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed a bottle of Jefferson by Monticello Vineyards.
We drove to The Kiltie for dinner The Kiltie is a real, live vintage drive-in restaurant. Burgers, fries, and custard served directly to your car. Chad brought a drive-in movie speaker he bought online and streamed a Spotify playlist through it via Bluetooth.
Ruth visited the Bristol Renaissance Faire
She went to the Bristol Renaissance Faire in costume with a couple girlfriends. It’d been about five years since she’d been there and it was fun to see the changes.
Chad got together with his Little Brother
They hadn’t seen each other in a while so spent their time soldering LEDs, talking about tattoos, vaping, tech, and school which would be starting soon. Elijah continues to inspire Chad in so many ways.

Ruth got in the way of a really angry yellow jacket. Then Abby the Beagle did. Everyone got stung on Saturday! The exterminator will be visiting this week.
For Ruth’s birthday, we visited Mr. B’s Steakhouse in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The steaks there are cooked in a wood-fired oven which makes them taste absolutely amazing. We chose “Saldo” to pair with the dinner – a Zinfandel county blend by The Prisoner.
Ruth had an MRI which was pretty inconclusive, so now she’s walking in a walking boot to immobilize her ankle.
We decided a lot of the driving on Saturday was “lackluster.” We were probably not using the word correctly.
Makerspace in Illinois
Chad visited a Makerspace in Illinois and was impressed with their rules, which included “clean your space and put your tools away.”
We borrowed a friend’s badge at DEFCON24 to get Ruth in to see the SomaFM DJs in the Chill Lounge. Ruth got to meet DJ Pie.
