407 – Cheater Glasses

Welcome to Savoring Our Lives! In this week’s episode, we:

MKE Ice Bars

Hung at MKE Ice Bars
Ruth works for an organization which helped to produce a fun time for people in Milwaukee. There are now three ice bars on the corner of Broadway and St. Paul. The bars were created by Max and Jeanne Zuleta of Art Below Zero.

Ruth with Ken and Jon of The Posies

Saw The Posies in Chicago
Ruth got tix and a VIP meet and greet for The Posies. If you’re not familiar with the band,  here’s a clip of them playing live in Seattle on KEXP a few years ago. We thought we were going to miss the meet and greet but just a few minutes late. The show was outstanding and the City Winery concert venue was cool.

Avocado Bomb at Matty’s

Went back to Matty’s
We returned to Matty’s Pub (after finding it closed the week before) and the food was outstanding. We found so much deliciousness on the menu we will have to return! The only downside was the low lighting made Chad realize he needs cheater glasses. Everything got sharper and brighter in his world when he borrowed Ruth’s cheaters.

Watched Clue
Actor Ryan Reynolds recently announced he wants to do an “update” of the movie, “Clue.” We are skeptical. But, since we both love the movie so much we decided to re-watch it. Th original is such a well-done film by John Landis we’re not sure how Ryan can top it.

Want to share your story about something that inspires you? Want to tell us where to find the best cheater glasses on a chain for Chad…let us know!

203 – Welcome Back

Welcome to Savoring Our Lives!

In this week’s episode, we talk about:

Welcome Back
We were gone for a couple weeks, but we’re back! We were in Orlando for the National Speakers Association conference. In between breakout sessions, we had fun eating and drinking around the properties including the Spirit of Aloha luau and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto.

Beagle Update Tini and Abby stayed with Uncle Curt and Aunt Jasmine while we were gone. And now, the girls are gettingalong and Abby is finding her place in our pack.  (L to R: Abby, Tini, Annie, Timmy)

Being Social vs Doing Dishes
Chad was out of town and Ruth had the opportunity to see Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) live here in Milwaukee. But first she had to battle getting up the gumption to go out and not stay home and do dishes.

Meal Planning
We’re still batch cooking. We make Damn Delicious’ One Pot Mexican Rice Casserole this week. And, man, it was damn delicious!

Shakespeare in the Park
We saw Optimist Theatre’s performance of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” This year, the theatre company moved to a new, very nice venue right in the middle of downtown Milwaukee.

Hey Baby, Let’s Go To Vegas
We’ll be off the air next week because we’ll be in Vegas for DEFCON25. See you in August!

Want to share your story about how you’re savoring your life? Or if you know what the mystery MST3K movie was, tell us!
